Face-to-face consultations
The Archway Surgery provides a high proportion of our consultations face-to-face.
We release a range of face-to-face appointment slots at 08:30 each morning to ensure we can respond to the high volume of new medical issues within our community.
A few slots are also released most days at 07:00 for online booking by patients aged 18 and over. Please register with Patient Access for online appointment booking.
Some appointments can be booked in advance if you are able to wait; please enquire via reception.
Telephone consultations
If you prefer to speak to a clinician by phone, or if a face-to-face slot is unavailable, you may be offered a telephone consultation to discuss your health. If a physical examination is required, you will be invited to attend in person.

Chronic disease management
The practice employs three highly trained practice nurses with extensive knowledge and experience. Our nurses attend regular training in all aspects of chronic disease management, providing specialized clinics for preventative care and the long-term monitoring of conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, COPD, and asthma.
Senior Mental Health Practitioner
Appointments with our Senior Mental Health Practitioner can be booked through reception. She can guide you toward local resources to manage your wellbeing—please review our resources page first—or facilitate a referral to NHS mental health services if necessary.
Treatment Room services
Our treatment room nurses perform essential tests and clinical procedures requested by the GPs, including blood tests, ECGs, and dressings.
Sick certification
Sickness certification is available for illnesses lasting longer than seven days. Find more details here.
Vaccinations
Our practice nurses hold weekly clinics for all childhood immunisations within the national programme.
We also provide adult vaccination clinics for eligible patients, covering COVID-19, flu, RSV, shingles, and meningitis.

Non-NHS services
GPs are frequently asked to provide services that fall outside the scope of the NHS, such as insurance claim forms, private letters, and medical examinations for HGV licenses.Â

Home visits
We provide home visits only when a face-to-face medical assessment is necessary and the patient is unable to travel due to their clinical condition. If you require a home visit, please contact the surgery at 08:30 so we can coordinate a GP's schedule to visit you during the day.
Travel vaccinations
Other than Yellow Fever (for which we are an accredited centre), our nurses provide only those travel vaccines which are covered by the NHS, such as hepatitis A, typhoid, cholera, and the polio/diphtheria/tetanus booster.

Before calling reception, please check the NaTHNaC website to see which vaccines you require. Note that many pharmacies and private services also offer these vaccinations.
Cervical screening
You will receive an invitation letter from the Business Services Organisation (BSO) when your cervical smear test is due. These screenings are performed by our practice nurses; you can schedule your appointment by calling our reception team.

Contraception
Our doctors offer a comprehensive contraceptive service informed by extensive clinical experience. In addition to oral contraceptives, we provide long-acting reversible methods, including Nexplanon implants and intrauterine systems.
