Letters, forms and other private services

GPs are frequently asked to provide services that fall outside the scope of the NHS, such as insurance claim forms, private letters and medical examinations for HGV licences.

GP practices like Archway are not required under their NHS contract to provide this type of work. However, we strongly value the relationships we have with our patients and have always tried to assist where we can, provided that doing so does not interfere with the delivery of our NHS services.

As this work is not funded by the NHS, a private fee will normally apply. The practice may also decline a request where the work is not appropriate for us to undertake, or where we do not have the capacity or professional qualifications to provide it.

Much of this work has to be completed by the doctors outside normal surgery hours, often in the evenings or at weekends.

If you have a form or require a private letter, please enquire at reception.

The receptionist may need to check with a GP to establish whether we are able to complete the form or letter, and what fee will apply.

If we accept the request, please do not expect it to be completed immediately. We will always prioritise the provision of NHS medical care.

​

Private letters and forms normally take 5–7 working days to complete. Where we are able to accommodate a request within a shorter timeframe, additional fees will apply.
