Clinics

Antenatal care

For patients’ convenience this is provided by appointment with your doctor rather than at fixed clinic times. A Midwife attends the practice each Monday morning.

Breast screening

Females aged 50-65 years are invited for a mammogram every three years. Any patient over 65 years can also be screened if they contact the Practice Nurse and she will arrange an appointment during the next local screening period.

Cervical Cytology

Female patients are invited to attend for a cervical smear test every three years or earlier if required. These are carried out in specific clinics, but can be done at other times in normal surgery hours by your doctor or Practice Nurse. All doctors in the practice strongly advise patients to have regular smear tests.

Counselling

A counsellor works within the practice. Your GP can refer you if appropriate.

Chronic disease management

The practice offers regular review appointments for patients with medical conditions such as Diabetes, Heart Disease, Stroke, Hypertension, COPD, Asthma and Epilepsy.

Family planning

Full range of family planning services are available by appointment with your doctor or Practice Nurse.

Flu/shingles vaccination

The GP’s in the Practice recommend that patients age 65 and those considered to be in ‘at risk’ categories will be invited to attend flu clinics yearly, towards the start of the winter season.

Minor surgery

The doctors carry out various procedures by arrangement with patients, often avoiding the need for hospital referral. Minor operations are usually arranged for Wednesdays and Fridays of each week.

Non-NHS examinations

Certain services provided by your doctor are not covered by the NHS and you may be asked to pay a fee, e.g. Private Medical Certificates, Insurance Claim Forms, Employment Medicals etc.

Travel immunisations/vaccinations

Please make an appointment at least 6 weeks in advance of your holiday with Practice Nurse Cunningham or Sister Valerie Devlin for advice. For certain immunisations and vaccinations which are not covered by the NHS a charge will be made by the Chemist for a private prescription. If private immunisations only are being given (ie. no NHS-covered vaccinations), or if you are not registered at The Archway Surgery, there is a consultation fee of £20 per adult / £40 per family.

We are a designated Yellow Fever Centre and offer this service to the public as well as our own patients.

Well baby clinic

Tuesday 9.30am – 11.30am

Our aim is to provide an efficient immunisation service and the opportunity is taken to check each baby’s progress, to look for early signs of abnormality and to give advice on day to day care. Sick babies should be seen separately at the surgery to prevent the spread of infection.
