Training Practice

Our Practice is a long established training/teaching practice.

A GP Registrar is attached to the practice most years. They are fully qualified doctors with a great deal of hospital experience (usually 4 or 5 years since they qualified).Their training in the practice is centred on the role of the General Practitioner. They are available for consultations in exactly the same way as other doctors in the practice.    The registrars spend 6 months to one year with us in The Archway Surgery.

We also have attached FY2 doctors. These doctors have completed at least one year since qualification and are spending 4 months of their second year in our general practice.    Our FY2 doctors have longer appointment times (20-30 minutes).

Medical Students

The practice has for many years been involved in the education of medical students from Queen’s University of Belfast. At periods throughout the year a student will be attached to the practice, and during that time will accompany doctors during surgeries, home visits and clinics.

Patients will always be informed that a student is present and their permission obtained beforehand
